We schedule pickup appointments in 30-minute time slots so each family gets relaxed, one-on-one time. When you get here, we’ll go over a few quick things, finish up payment, and then you’ll have time to spend with your puppy before heading home.
If you’d like, you’re welcome to bring a blanket or towel to gently rub on mom so the puppy has her scent with them for the ride home.
If you are bringing other dogs, please leave them in your vehicle, as it can make mom feel protective of her puppies during pickup.
You will be able to meet mom if you are picking up here locally. If you are meeting at the airport or another location, she will not be traveling with us.
Pickup is scheduled for June 15–19 or June 21 in Major County, Oklahoma unless we’ve already arranged something different. Just text me to confirm your exact day and time.
Your puppy will go home with a slip lead, so there’s no need to worry about purchasing a collar or leash ahead of time. It’s a simple leash-and-collar combo that’s easy to use and safe for young puppies.
I prefer slip leads for young dogs and don’t recommend leaving collars on full-time due to safety concerns, especially during play or downtime.
Pickup options include:
• Local vet clinic (no fee)
• OKC Airport ($150 for flying families)
• Other meeting locations available at $75/hour one way (up to 4 hours)
If you have any questions on the way, just text me. I can’t wait for you to meet your puppy!
Pickup times are only finalized once the contract is completed.
Will Rogers World Airport
7100 Terminal Dr, Oklahoma City, OK
73159 ($150 fee to meet at airport 2 hours away)
We only take cash for final payment or online via GoodDog. GoodDog will charge additional processing fees, if you want no extra fees, choose cash unless you are a GoodDog applicant. If you submitted an application via GoodDog, you are required to pay through them. No checks or any other form of payment will be accepted.

This is the food your puppy will be eating. More detailed feeding instructions will be included in your go home folder. We buy this food at Atwoods. Please purchase this food before pickup. It is very important that you do not change puppy's food in the first 30 days.

The only part of these recommendations we disagree with is giving your pup Benadryl. This is not necessary, you do not need to medicate your puppy to travel.
ACD owners must be willing to train their dogs and establish themselves as the “leader.”
ACDs are often called “Velcro dogs.” They bond closely to their people and want to be involved in everything they do. Your dog will be a true companion while you work the ranch, run, hike, bike, or go about your daily activities. ACDs do not thrive if left constantly unattended in the back yard.
Order stairs or a ramp if you plan for your young puppy to get on the bed, couch or any other elevated surface. The rule of thumb is your puppy should not jump anything higher than their shoulder until over the age of 12 months. Why? The impact or possible slipping can cause injury to developing joints.

Do not stop at gas stations, dog parks, dog potty areas etc. Do not let your puppy around places any other dogs may have used the restroom where you do not know their vaccination status. It is best to have people come visit your home and remove their shoes at the door for socialization for the next few weeks.

Your pup will be implanted with a microchip. You should have your vet scan your puppy’s microchip during your first visit and then at your pup’s annual visits to ensure the microchip is still working and has not migrated. It is not a tracking device and there's no GPS.

In this Trupanion video exclusive, veterinarian Dr. Natalie Marks has your back with an essential new puppy tips checklist.

Keep your puppy in a crate while you are away; this aids in house training and keeps the puppy from chewing up everything in your house. It is useful in case of emergencies, at time of spay or neuter, and the safest way to transport in the vehicle. We recommend the Ruffland brand, Intermediate Size.
This breed is meant to be a working dog, meaning in their ideal home, they are herding daily, covering miles of rugged terrain each day gathering cattle.
You can jog them each day by running or bike riding. If your physical limits or backyard do not allow this, you need to purchase a dog pacer or treadmill. *ONLY after 12 months of age!
